Begin your adventure to Angkor’s lesser-explored temples with an adventurous cycle into the jungles. Follow cycling paths through lush forests on your way to the ancient temples of Roluos, the former capital of the Khmer Empire. Hop off your bicycle for a wander around the temples of Bakong, Preah Ko and Lolei – some of the least visited and charmingly overgrown in Siem Reap – before hopping back on your bike for a ride to nearby Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
Pass small villages and vivid green rice paddies before arriving at Tonle Sap, where houses are built on tall stilts to protect them from the lake’s annual flood pulse. Explore rural lifestyles here before pedaling back to Siem Reap for the evening.
