Schedule

Vang Vieng Caving & Kayaking 1 Day

Start your adventure with a short drive to the Khmu minority village of Vieng Samay. After a quick safety briefing and lesson in paddle skills, hop aboard your kayak and head down the river. Your first stop is a visit to Tham Nam Thaem Cave. The cave passes through a mountain, allowing for amazing panoramic photos of the Nam Kouang Valley below. Leave your kayak at the bank and trek up the small path that will take you to the picnic spot for a Lao style lunch.

After lunch hop back into your kayak and paddle to the Vang Vieng Organic Farm, where a Lao agricultural famer produces mulberry tea and wine. Wander through the mulberry orchard and try a glass of the local vintage!
Then, paddle on to the massive Tham Non Cave, amongst the largest in the Vang Vieng area. Known as the Sleeping Cave, it served as a shelter for 2,000 Lao villagers during the Vietnam War! Today, it is home to a bat colony and some stalagmites and stalactites. One of these formations is the “magic stone of stone of Vang Vieng,” so called because of its ability to reflect a lot of light.

You’ll arrive back in Vang Vieng late afternoon, just in time for a sunset drink.
